Falmouth Pride Ambassadors
Falmouth Pride Ambassadors love their town and Cornwall
. . . and help cruise ship passengers to love it as well!
We are a bunch of people who feel passionate about our community & environment, enjoy meeting people from all around the world and love sharing with visitors our lovely town. We are on hand to help during the season (generally from April to October) come rain or shine.
Some of the things we get involved with are:
- Providing a warm welcome as soon as the passengers disembark from the ship [whether alongside or from the tender if the ship is in the bay]
- Guiding passengers to the excursion coaches, to join their tour
- Guiding passengers to the complimentary shuttle bus provided by A & P
- Providing a running commentary on the bus during the 15 minute drive into town
- Arranging appropriate transport in the event passengers choose to go on their own tour
- Providing the passengers with maps & any tourist information required for their visit
- Showing the ship’s crew the way to the Mission for Seafarers [often they use this facility to make telephone calls to their families abroad]
- Generally being proactive to answer enquiries of all nature from cruise passengers, officers or crew

There are some real benefits of becoming a Falmouth Pride Ambassador
FPAs have the opportunity to show pride in Falmouth & Cornwall and impact its economy. If you speak a foreign language, you'll have the opportunity to use it, plus making new friends from all over the world is exciting! While you are telling your new friends about Falmouth and Cornwall you will learn about their culture, and why they love where they live.
Interested on how to become a Falmouth Pride Ambassador [FPA]
To become a Falmouth Pride Ambassador, you must enjoy meeting and talking with all kinds of people and to make them feel at home, away from home. You also need to be personable & outward and preferably familiar with and upbeat about Falmouth town and/or Cornwall. Increasingly, we meet foreign visitors, so if you have any foreign language skills that would be great. The Falmouth Pride Ambassadors are required to have a mobile and an email address.
There are also training opportunities, such as welcome techniques and Tour Guiding.
FPAs are provided with their own uniform which includes a sweatshirt, a polo shirt, wet weather gear, a cap and a Falmouth Pride Pin. These should be returned if and when you cease to be an Ambassador.
