Christmas in Falmouth is a special time of year to visit. We have loads of events on from Santa Fun Run and the Harmony Choirs, to the new Christmas Festival on Discovery Quay. Check back regularly as this will be updated when information comes in but here are some of the highlights to look forward to:

The BIG Christmas Lights switch on

1 Dec, 7pm The Moor. Expect singing from Falmouth's schoolchildren, dancing, a Xmas Lantern Parade (leaves Events Square 6pm arriving on The Moor prior to the switch-on) and a host of other activities.

1-3 Dec - Cinderella
Amity Friendship Theatre will be performing Cinderella at the Methodist Church on each of the three nights.

The Courtyard Deli presents a Caravanserai Yuletide Dinner

The Courtyard Deli has teamed up with Caravanserai to bring you a festive evening of entertainment and food. Tickets £20 and include a delicious seasonal deli meal and a complimentary toasting shot of Cornish mead. Your host, story teller Mac Dunlop, will be joined by poets Nick Jarvis and Rob Barratt and musician Seamas Carey to bring you a taste of the counties top talent. 10-11 Dec - Christmas Bazaar The Poly 10-5pm on both days
Browse and buy handmade books, fairtrade jewellery, ceramics, original paintings, prints, bags, vintage china, handmade cards, crafts and much more! A great opportunity to buy Christmas gifts and enjoy some mince pies. The Poly will also be screening the Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life, on the evening of Saturday 10th December (entry is free, but donations very welcome!).

SANTA FUN RUN!

10 Dec, 13.00pm, The Moor Why not take part in this hilarious event and join several hundred other 'Santas' pounding the streets of Falmouth raising money for Cornwall Hospice Care? Entry online via Cornwall Hospices event booking page.

10 Dec - Brewery Yard (High St) Christmas Fair 10am-6pm
Stalls galore - hampers, crafts, stocking fillers, local,produce, chestnuts at Cafe Cinnamon, Mulled Wine at the Hand Bar. Old interesting things at Antik Boutik. Art and jewellery at Atelier Eloise.

11 Dec - 'A Pinch of Christmas Spirit' on The Moor 1-3.30pm

Come and join for a sing-a-long on Falmouth Moor. We will be joined by an array of exceptional Choirs, including renowned Soprano Cheryl Brendish, all in aid of Little Harbour Children's Hospice. The afternoon will be filled with seasonal treats such as homemade mince pies, mulled wine and candy canes. Local businesses have also given you the chance to win a variety of prizes in our raffle. Bring the whole family along to enjoy the music and support such a worthy cause! FREE entry.

12 - 31 Dec - Christmas Tree Festival, All Saints Parish Church
Open daily 10-7pm closed 25, 26, 27 Dec
This year we have 40 trees to be decorated in the church and these will be done by churches, schools, art college, local shops and charity organisations. Proceeds from the event are shared between local charities and our church. All welcome! 

17 Dec - Christmas Fancy Dress Parade
Dress up, look silly and join in the fun as you parade through the streets of Falmouth! Starts 1pm outside Brewery Yard on the Old High St. Further details via Jane Thomas, Just Like This shop 01326 212895.

Falmouth Christmas Festival on Discovery Quay

15-18 Dec, Thurs 4pm-8pm, Fri & Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 10am-4pm. New for 2011, Discovery Quay is to host four days of festive food, drink and shopping at its first annual Christmas Festival. Discovery Quay will be transformed into a Christmas market with carol singing, live cooking demos and street theatre performances throughout the weekend. Sponsored by Cornish Cottage Holidays and Rick Stein’s Fish & Chips, the festival is a celebration of all things local, encouraging visitors to stock up on locally produced food, drink and gifts, just in time for the festive season. With Cornwall Food & Drink involved expect great produce on show!

16-18 Dec - Shop for Theatre
Even more of an excuse to visit Falmouth for your shopping on these days as a variety of performance artists in various retails outlets will provide a visually exciting distraction! Expect poetry recitals, mime artists, jugglers, impromptu plays and more. Check out Facebook page here.

17 Dec - Christmas Lunchtime Concert, Falmouth Parish Church12 noon,
With informal community carols, lots of people taking part with seasonal Christmas music and readings.

22 Dec - Service of NIne Lessons and Carols by Candlelight, Falmouth Parish Church, 7.30pm.

24 Dec Cornwall Harmony Choir, 10.30am start
One of the highlights of the Christmas period with choirs from across Cornwall gathering in Falmouth to sing Christmas carols along the main thoroughfare as they have done in Falmouth for over 100 years.
