About

Our aim for the bar was to create not just a bar but a cultural centre or hub where you can see a range of different live acts from bands to comedy nights, poetry readings as well as political debate nights, talks from authors, burlesque shows and more. We have created a space that will also help showcase local art and highlight local issues, where people could come together to talk, create and have fun (hence the name symposium!).

Inspired by our favorite book Alice In Wonderland and in homage to the late David Bruce, our task was to create a little haven where people could escape, let their hair down and experience something new. We wanted to inspire the feeling of ‘falling down the rabbit hole’ when you entered the bar, that everything is not quite as it seems.

Food & Drink
Primarily a wine bar, we also stock most of the Healey’s cider range as well as a massive selection of ales, beers and gins. We aim to promote and celebrate Cornish businesses wherever possible and that’s why we use Tarquins gin, Dead Man’s rum and Wooden Hand Brewery. In terms of food we serve a range of charcuterie and cheese boards with our cheeses sourced from farms all over Cornwall and our charcuterie coming from a mixture of Cornish, French and Spanish farms. You can enjoy a mixed platter for only £15 or pic and mix between your favourite meats and cheeses from as a little as £2.50 per portion. We are also serving a litre carafe of wine for only £12 to help wash down all those tasty bites!
