Whether you want to eat, drink, or dance it manages to achieve both early evening chill and late night buzz (it is open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays). It’s never short of ambience with a range of eclectic events – from knit club on Wednesdays (from 7-10) to live music on the last Friday of the month, and some of the South West’s finest DJs from 11-2 at the weekend. There is the occasional art competition. You’ll be sure to find something right for you at toast.
The emphasis at Toast is on the music during the winter months. The latest and greatest tunes about are supplied mostly by Jam on the High Street. ‘Jam on toast’ every first Wednesday of the month.
Toast is more foodie in the summer months when the students go home and the tourists arrive. The menu changes constantly but the food is always homemade. Lunch is only served during the summer holidays.
On Thursdays toast does an amazing Cornish sushi night – fish fresh from the sea that morning. A small plate of sushi is £6.95 or large for £12.50. All served with wasabi, pickled ginger, soy, sweet chilli sauce plus saki if you wish.
Toast’s popularity has been unwavering with both locals and students alike offering both a wide range of spirits, ciders, lagers and local real ales and doing some really substantial student deals on Mondays and Thursdays. Those who would like to enjoy a great night with the toast crew need arrive early as the venue gets thrumming early on.
