Falmouth Oyster Festival will be celebrating its 21st year in October!
From October 12 to 15, the festival will welcome thousands of visitors to enjoy a packed programme of cookery demonstrations, live music and freshly shucked oysters.
The four day festival is packed with cookery demonstrations by leading local chefs, there are oysters, seafood, wine and local ale to sample along with children’s shell painting, entertainment in the form of sea shanties, a town parade, live music, an oyster shucking competition, a Falmouth Working Boat race and marquees brimming with Cornish produce. The festival is a must for all oyster, seafood and maritime heritage enthusiasts!
High profile names including Rick Stein, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Clarissa Dickson Wright, Antonio Carluccio, Aldo Zilli, John Burton Race, Valentine Warner and Sophie Grigson, have entertained cooking enthusiasts over the years. Well known personalities and local Michelin Star chefs including Pete Goss, Nathan Outlaw, Ben Tunnicliffe and Chris Eden, have all added to the programme too. Taking place in the town’s Events Square, the Falmouth Oyster Festival has seen an increasing number of Cornish food and drink producers promoting their quality produce alongside the longstanding craft fair stalls in the festival marquee. Festival visitors can savour that expanding range of mouth-watering Cornish food and drink, both on site whilst taking in the festival atmosphere or to take home and enjoy.
