Waves 4 Power
Waves4Power delivers green energy solutions by generating affordable electric power from ocean waves. The company operates from its local office in Carnon Downs, just outside Falmouth.
The power generated is free of harmful CO2 emissions, thereby helping to create a better future for our planet. A wave power park consists of several power-generating WaveEL buoys linked together in an optimised pattern. The power park is connected to the energy user onshore or offshore via a connection hub and sea cable.
Working with industrial partners, Waves4Power deployed their full-scale prototype WaveEL buoy at the Runde site in Norway in 2016. This demonstrated total proof of concept and survivability for 12,000 hours between February 2016 and November 2017, including 14-metre storm waves and 4000 hours of full-scale system grid connected functional testing.
The development of the W4P Next Generation is happening. Working with partners using a new composite structure and increased power take-off, Waves4Power is building toward installing commercial wave power arrays in Scotland and Cornwall in 2023.
