#LoveFalmouth

Falmouth is a very special place with a strong community spirit. Thousands celebrate all things Falmouth on social media, where the hashtag #LoveFalmouth accompanies a multitude of beautiful images and videos that represent special aspects of our vibrant coastal town.

The #LoveFalmouth competition is a viral social campaign from the Falmouth BID, designed to promote Falmouth as a top place to live, visit and experience. Tapping into the #LoveFalmouth hashtag, Falmouth BID created a 6-month long competition inviting the public to share their experiences of Falmouth using pictures and video.

The #LoveFalmouth photography competition ran in 2016 and 2017, leading to an enthusiastic and passionate response from nearly 2,000 residents, visitors and students. The competition was run exclusively across social media platforms.

Entrants were invited to upload images via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the #LoveFalmouth hashtag and within monthly themes such as #Community and #Adventure, leading to the difficult decision by the judging panel of narrowing these down to the winning shots.

In 2016 the winning shots were celebrated at the #LoveFalmouth exhibition, which was open to the public from Tuesday 29th November through until Saturday 10th December, in the Main Gallery of The Poly, Falmouth.

In 2017 Falmouth BID produced the first official #LoveFalmouth calendar. Read more about that here.

Accompanying the entries were some touching, humorous and engaging quotes, demonstrating the connection and strength of feeling people have with Falmouth. The exhibition and calendar displayed the winners’ photographs along with their stories.

The #LoveFalmouth hashtag has been part of the town’s online marketing for some time, and has engaged thousands of users in shared experiences of Falmouth, particularly via social media. Official Falmouth social media channels:
