VE Day 80

Thursday 8th May 2025 marks 80 years since Nazi Germany’s formal surrender towards the end of the Second World War.

On VE (Victory in Europe) Day in 1945, millions took to the streets to celebrate peace after years of devastating war. In recognition of this national event, Falmouth has planned a series of celebratory opportunities, beginning with the raising of the official VE Day flag on The Moor and small service in Kimberley Park, followed by a huge variety of activities and workshops throughout the afternoon at Pendennis Castle and finishing with live music and the lighting of the beacon.

Further details on the various ways to get involved on Thursday 8th May can be found below, as well as the history of this significant event.
