BID Means Business

Falmouth BID are pleased to confirm the next series of BID Means Business training workshops. These sessions are free for BID levy-paying businesses and are designed to give you and your team practical skills that can make a real difference.
Places are limited to one per business, so please book early to secure your spot.

 

1) Social Media 101: Instagram, Facebook & TikTok
Date: Monday 3rd November
Time: 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Location: Atherton Suite, Falmouth Town Offices
Trainer

This practical, hands-on session will cover:

  • How Instagram and Facebook algorithms work
  • Creating effective grid posts, reels, and stories
  • Making hashtags work for you
  • Using meta Business Suite for scheduling
  • An introduction to TikTok and creating impactful reels
  • Using ChatGPT to help with scheduling and captions

Bring a bank of business photos on your phone – we’ll be creating a live posting schedule during the session. Refreshments provided.

2) Accredited Emergency First Aid at Work
Date: Wednesday 17th December
Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Location: Atherton Suite, Falmouth Town Offices
Trainer: Joe Rice First Aid (course details)
This one-day accredited course will provide the essential skills needed to manage first aid emergencies in the workplace.
Includes teas and coffees (please bring your own lunch).

3) iPhone Photography for Business
Date: Tuesday 20th January
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: Blueprint, 15A Killigrew Street
Trainer: Anthony Prothero

A hands-on photography session teaching you how to:

  • Configure your iPhone for consistent, brand-safe shooting
  • Use lighting and composition techniques to create strong images
  • Shoot repeatable “content recipes” for products, people, places, and details
  • Edit quickly on-phone, export, organise, and prep images for web and social media

About the Trainer – Anthony Prothero
Anthony Prothero is Course Leader for the Commercial Photography BA(Hons) at Falmouth University. With a background assisting leading photographers in London and a Master’s in Photography from Falmouth. Alongside teaching, Anthony is active in Falmouth’s creative community through his bar and gallery space, Blueprint.

The course includes a complimentary glass of wine, beer or soft drink. Limited to 10 places.

4) The Employment Rights Bill and What it Means to Employers
Date: Monday 9th February
Time: 5.30pm – 7.30pm
Location: Orgia, 43 Church Street

This session will be an overview of the proposals in the Employment Rights Bill, including:

  • Changes to day one employment rights
  • Changes to unfair dismissal
  • Ban on “exploitive” zero-hours contracts
  • Restrictions on fire and rehire
  • Making flexible working the default
  • New rights for unions

We will consider the practical considerations for employers and what steps you need to be taking.
